Weekend in Floripa

Hello---
Back from the weekend in Floripa. It was a really good time. Lots of sun, lots of beach, lots of relaxing, it was great.

We arrived on Friday into Florianopolis around 7:30 p.m. from the airport. We took a taxi for the 13 of us to the hotel and made it in about half an hour. We found out that Florianopolis had the highest income per resident of any of the state capitals in Brazil. It was really nice. We went to a bar/club Friday night after eating pizza at a little joint near the hotel.

Saturday, we woke up and went to the beach. We went to Praia Mole on Saturday and spent about 6 hours drinking drinks out of coconuts and stuff. I played in the ocean for a while and made sure to apply lots of sunscreen. We came back from the beach and took showers and headed to dinner. We had a little trouble finding our destination, but eventually got there and then found a place that played hip-hop music for one of our team members.

Sunday, we woke up and went to the beach. This time, we headed north and went to Jurere Beach, which is supposed to be the more affluent beach. Wow, were the beach houses amazing! We walked along the boardwalk by the beach houses and saw some houses with outdoor barbeque pits and infinity pools. They were unreal. After the beach, we headed back to the hotel, took some showers and headed to the airport...

The only bad thing about Sao Paulo, due to the recent crashes, is the delay we had on the plane. For whatever reason, when they made the runways, they did not make it of the exact same composition as US airport runways, and it is more slippery than ours. As such, plans cannot take off or land during rainstorms. So, we waited on the plane for 1.5 hours for the weather to clear in SP. Finally, it did, and I will take the precaution over a crash, but it did get a little long in the tooth at times on the plane.

All in all, a good weekend without any sunburns, so that is a positive in my book. We are headed to Iguazu Falls this weekend, which is the world's largest waterfalls. Talk to you soon...and, I will post my pictures shortly from the weekend.
